GRAHAM FILLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 22, 2022 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chair Filler. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Filler, Mueller, Griffin, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Berman, Clements, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden, Hope, Breen. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Berman joined the committee remotely. Representative Mueller moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 15, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5482, HB 5483 and HB 5484 before the committee: HB 5482 (Rep. Howell) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 1066 (MCL 600.1066), as added by 2004 PA 224. HB 5483 (Rep. LaGrand) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 1093 (MCL 600.1093), as amended by 2018 PA 591. HB 5484 (Rep. Yancey) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 1074 (MCL 600.1074), as added by 2004 PA 224. Representative LaGrand, Representative Yancey, Representative Howell and Judge Harvey Hoffman, representing the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals, testified together in support of HB 5482, HB 5483 and HB 5484. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5482, HB 5483 and HB 5484, but did not wish to speak: Nathan Triplett, representing the State Bar of Michigan. Representative Calley and Judge Harvey Hoffman, representing the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals, testified together in support of HB 5512. Questions and discussion followed. Latrisha Matson, representing the Michigan Weedster – Patients, testified in opposition to HB 5512. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5512, but did not wish to speak: Brandon Lanyon, representing the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan. LaFave) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 40111 (MCL 324.40111), as amended by 2018 PA 272. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4078, but did not wish to speak: Taylor Ridderbusch, representing the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Representative Steven Johnson moved to report out HB 4078 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 8-3-1: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps.
