JACK O'MALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 22, 2022 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chair O'Malley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Berman joined the committee remotely. Representative Clemente moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 15, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5712 before the committee: HB 5712 (Rep. Clemente) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," (MCL 250.1001 to 250.2092) by adding section 52a. Representative Clemente, joined by Tim and Linda Frank, parents of Sergeant Craig S. Frank, all testified in support of HB 5712. Representative Sneller moved to report out HB 5712 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 12-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Nays: None. Pass: None. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 5712, but did not wish to speak: Troy Hagon, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation. The Chair laid HB 5720 before the committee: HB 5720 (Rep. Rogers) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," (MCL 250.1001 to 250.2092) by adding section 1073a. Representative Rogers testified in support of HB 5720. Roannna Proxmire, wife of Sergeant Ryan Proxmire, joined by Richard Fuller III, Kalamazoo County Sheriff, both testified in support of HB 5720.
