- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT REP. STEVEN JOHNSON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, February 24, 2022 10:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Oversight was called to order by Chair Steven Johnson. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Steven Johnson, Outman, Hoitenga, Reilly, Yaroch, O'Malley, Brixie, LaGrand, Young. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Outman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 17, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5555 before the committee: HB 5555 (Rep. Allor) A bill to amend 1936 (Ex Sess) PA 1, entitled "Michigan employment security act," by amending section 13 (MCL 421.13), as amended by 2012 PA 493. Representative O'Malley moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 5555. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Steven Johnson, Outman, Hoitenga, Reilly, Yaroch, O'Malley, Brixie, LaGrand, Young. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative O'Malley moved to report out HB 5555 with recommendation, as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 8-0-1: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Steven Johnson, Outman, Hoitenga, Reilly, Yaroch, O'Malley, LaGrand, Young. Nays: None. Pass: Rep. Brixie. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 5555, but did not wish to speak: Dave Worthams, representing the Michigan Manufacturers Association. The Chair laid before the committee Testimony from Michigan businesses regarding their experiences with MIOSHA. Don Badaczewski and Deborah Sellis, representing Argent International, testified in regard to Michigan businesses experiences with MIOSHA. Questions and discussion followed.
