- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON INSURANCE REP. MIKE HARRIS CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, June 11, 2025 Noon. Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Insurance was called to order by Chair Harris. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Harris, Tisdel, Lightner, Posthumus, Aragona, Neyer, Schuette, Brenda Carter, Tate and Fitzgerald. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Lightner moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 21, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. Chair Harris laid a presentation on Hospital Cost Drivers before the committee. Elizabeth Kutter, Senior Director of Government and Political Affairs, and Laura Appel, Executive Vice President of the Michigan Hospital Association, gave a presentation on Hospital Cost Drivers. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Fitzgerald moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
