PAULINE WENDZEL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, April 12, 2022 9:00 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chair Wendzel. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Wendzel, Roth, Alexander, Farrington, Wakeman, Martin, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Liberati. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 15, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5752 and HB 5753 before the committee: HB 5752 (Rep. Brann) A bill to amend 1967 PA 281, entitled "Income tax act of 1967," (MCL 206.1 to 206.847) by adding sections 280 and 674. HB 5753 (Rep. Peterson) A bill to amend 1984 PA 270, entitled "Michigan strategic fund act," (MCL 125.2001 to 125.2094) by adding section 88u. Representative Brann testified in support of HB 5752 and HB 5753. Maggie DeSantis, representing the CDAD-Building the Engine of Community Development in Detroit, testified in support of HB 5752 and HB 5753. Jessica Acmoody and Melvin Henley, representing the CEDAM, testified in support of HB 5752 and HB 5753. Representative Cambensy moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to SB 791. The motion prevailed 10-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Rogers) A bill to amend 1984 PA 270, entitled "Michigan strategic fund act," by amending sections 90a and 90b (MCL 125.2090a and 125.2090b), section 90a as amended by 2017 PA 239 and section 90b as amended by 2018 PA 423. Representative Cambensy moved to report out HB 5656 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 7-3-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Wendzel, Roth, Wakeman, Cambensy, Cherry, Manoogian, Liberati. Nays: Reps. Alexander, Farrington, Martin. Pass: None. Representative Manoogian moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Wendzel adjourned the meeting.
