BRONNA KAHLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, May 5, 2022 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Kahle. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Whitsett, Neeley, Morse. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Meerman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 28, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5266 before the committee: HB 5266 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 20965 (MCL 333.20965), as amended by 2014 PA 312. Representative Yaroch testified in support of HB 5266. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5266, but did not wish to speak: Angela Madden, representing the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 5266, but did not wish to speak: Todd Tennis, representing the Negligence Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Bill Flory, representing the Michigan Association of Justice. Representative Allor moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 5266. The motion prevailed 17- 2-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Representative Alexander moved to report out HB 5266 with recommendation, as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 12-7-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. The Chair laid HB 6020 before the committee: HB 6020 (Rep. Kahle) A bill to establish a student mental health apprenticeship retention and training (SMART) internship grant program; to prescribe conditions for the administration of the student mental health apprenticeship retention and training (SMART) internship grant program; to prescribe certain powers and duties of certain state officers, agencies, and departments; and to require the promulgation of rules. At 10:38 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:39 AM, Majority Vice Chair Meerman called the committee back to order. Chair Kahle testified in support of HB 6020.
