- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND ETHICS REP. ANN BOLLIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 10, 2022 1:00 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Elections and Ethics was called to order by Chair Bollin. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Bollin, Wendzel, Calley, Steven Johnson, Filler, Koleszar, Whitsett. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Whitsett moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 12, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5938 before the committee: HB 5938 (Rep. Berman) A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled "Michigan campaign finance act," by repealing section 30 (MCL 169.230). Representative Berman testified in support of HB 5938. Sheree Ritchie, representing Pure Integrity for Michigan Elections, testified in support of HB 5938. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5938, but did not wish to speak: Erin Schor, representing the Michigan Department of State. Patrice Johnson, representing Pure Integrity for Michigan. The Chair laid SB 788 before the committee: SB 788 (Sen. Runestad) A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled "Michigan campaign finance act," by amending sections 3, 11, 12, 21, 24, 45, and 52 (MCL 169.203, 169.211, 169.212, 169.221, 169.224, 169.245, and 169.252), sections 3 and 11 as amended by 2017 PA 119, sections 12, 21, and 24 as amended by 2019 PA 93, section 45 as amended by 1996 PA 590, and section 52 as amended by 2015 PA 269, and by adding section 21b. Senator Runestad and Jeff Wiggins testified in support of SB 788. Questions and discussion followed.
