- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. MIKE MUELLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, May 19, 2022 9:00 AM Room 308, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair Mueller. At 9:01 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:07 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Mueller, VanWoerkom, Hauck, Cherry, Rabhi. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative VanWoerkom moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 5, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 6042 before the committee: HB 6042 (Rep. Mueller) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1308 (MCL 380.1308), as amended by 2016 PA 363. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 6042, but did not wish to speak: Stephanie Johnson, representing the Michigan Chiefs of Police Association. Gavin Goetz, representing AT&T Michigan. DeShondha Bedenfield, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. Representative Hauck moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 6042. The motion prevailed 5- 0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Mueller, VanWoerkom, Hauck, Cherry, Rabhi. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative VanWoerkom moved to report out HB 6042 with recommendation, as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 4-0-1: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Mueller, VanWoerkom, Hauck, Cherry. Nays: None. Pass: Rep. Rabhi. At 9:10 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:29 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order.
