- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON RULES AND COMPETITIVENESS REP. JIM LILLY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 9, 2022 10:30 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Rules and Competitiveness was called to order by Chair Lilly. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Lilly, Clements, Bellino, Calley, Wendzel, Damoose, Posthumus, Anthony, Hertel, Sneller, Kuppa. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Clements moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 26, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 6167 before the committee: HB 6167 (Rep. Filler) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 1204c (MCL 500.1204c), as amended by 2017 PA 67. Representative Filler testified in support of HB 6167. Questions and discussion followed. Ben Eichler, representing the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors – Michigan, testified in support of HB 6167. Questions and discussion followed. Joseph Sullivan, representing the Department of Financial and Insurance Services, testified in opposition to HB 6167. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 6167, but did not wish to speak: Ryan Burtka, representing the Michigan Association of Health Underwriters.
