- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION REP. JACK O'MALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 30, 2022 8:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chair O'Malley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, Carra, Roth, Harris, Sneller, Clemente, Shannon, Liberati. Absent: Reps. LaFave, Puri. Excused: Reps. LaFave, Puri. Representative Shannon joined the committee remotely. Representative Harris moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 21, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 744 before the committee: SB 744 (Sen. Chang) A bill to create the maritime and port facility assistance grant program to award grants to owners of port facilities; to provide the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities; and to create certain funds. Senator Chang testified in support of SB 744. Questions and discussion followed. Kyle Burleson, representing the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, testified in support of SB 744. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Roth moved to report out SB 744 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 9- 1-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, Roth, Harris, Sneller, Clemente, Liberati. Nays: Rep. Carra. Pass: None. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 744, but did not wish to speak: Mike Spence, representing the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. Troy Hagon, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation. Representative Sneller moved to excuse Representatives LaFave and Puri from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair O'Malley adjourned the meeting at 8:44 AM.
