GRAHAM FILLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, September 20, 2022 11:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chair Filler. At 11:31 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 11:33 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Filler, Mueller, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Clements, Mekoski, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden, Hope, Breen. Absent: Rep. Griffin. Excused: None. Representatives Mueller, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Clements, Mekoski, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden and Breen joined the committee remotely. The Chair laid HB 6290, HB 6291 and HB 6292 before the committee: HB 6290 (Rep. Hornberger) A bill to amend 1939 PA 288, entitled "Probate code of 1939," by amending section 17b of chapter XIIA (MCL 712A.17b), as amended by 2018 PA 344. HB 6291 (Rep. LaGrand) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," by amending section 2163a (MCL 600.2163a), as amended by 2018 PA 343. HB 6292 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled "Child protection law," (MCL 722.621 to 722.638) by adding section 8f. Representative Yaroch, Representative Hornberger, and Representative LaGrand testified in support of HB 6290, HB 6291 and HB 6292. Questions and discussion followed. Sheriff Chris Swanson, representing himself, testified in support of HB 6290, HB 6291 and HB 6292. Nyse Holloman, Board Chair, representing the Children's Advocacy Centers of Michigan (CACMI), and Alex Brace, Executive Director, representing the Small Talk Children's Advocacy Center, testified together in support of HB 6291. Adam Stacey, representing Senator Wozniak, Brad Biladeau and Kristin Bellar, both representing the Michigan Municipal Employees Retirement System, testified together in support of SB 1041 and SB 1042.
