- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. MIKE MUELLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, September 21, 2022 10:30 AM Room 308, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair Mueller. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Mueller, VanWoerkom, Hauck, Cherry, Rabhi. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative VanWoerkom moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 14, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 6354 before the committee: HB 6354 (Rep. Hoitenga) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 40118 (MCL 324.40118), as amended by 2022 PA 23. Representative Hoitenga and Representative Beson testified in support of the bill. Questions and discussion followed. Amy Trotter representing the Michigan United Conservation Clubs testified in support of HB 6354. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 6354, but did not wish to speak: Taylor Ridderbusch, representing the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Erik Schnelle, representing the Michigan Advisory Council. The Chair laid HB 4596 before the committee: HB 4596 (Rep. Peterson) A bill to designate the official native grain of this state. Nicole and Moses Viber testified in support of HB 4596. Meerman) A bill to amend 1969 PA 306, entitled "Administrative procedures act of 1969," by amending sections 8 and 31 (MCL 24.208 and 24.231), section 8 as amended by 2004 PA 23 and section 31 as amended by 1989 PA 288, and by adding section 47a. Representative Meerman testified in support of the bill. Questions and discussion followed. Diana Rademacher representing Americans for Prosperity testified in support of HB 5858. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5858, but did not wish to speak: David Guenthner, representing the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Jimmy Greene, representing ABC Michigan. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 5858, but did not wish to speak: Tim Minotas, representing the Sierra Club.
