BRONNA KAHLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, September 22, 2022 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Kahle. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Kahle, Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Filler, Mueller, Beeler, Fink, Roth, Tisdel, Witwer, Clemente, Pohutsky, Stone, Whitsett, Neeley, Morse. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representatives Meerman, Whiteford, Alexander, Allor, Hauck, Mueller, Tisdel, Clemente, Stone, Whitsett, Neeley and Morse joined the committee remotely. The Chair laid HB 6355 before the committee: HB 6355 (Rep. Filler) A bill to amend 1974 PA 258, entitled "Mental health code," by amending sections 409 and 972 (MCL 330.1409 and 330.1972), section 409 as amended and section 972 as added by 2020 PA 402. Representative Filler and Nicole Knight, representing herself, testified in support of HB 6355. Questions and discussion followed. Marianne Huff, Executive Director, representing the Mental Health Association of Michigan, testified in support of HB 6355. Alan Bolter, Associate Director, representing the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan, testified in opposition to HB 6355. Questions and discussion followed. Jennifer Carpenter, Clinical Director, representing the Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority, testified in opposition to HB 6355. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Fink testified in support of HB 6380. Lauren LaPine and Elizabeth Kutter, both representing the Michigan Health and Hospital Association, testified in support of HB 6380. The Chair laid SB 811 before the committee: SB 811 (Sen. VanderWall) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 17609 (MCL 333.17609), as amended by 2010 PA 304. Jamie Callahan from Senator VanderWall's office testified in support of SB 811.
