- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON WORKFORCE, TRADES, AND TALENT REP. BETH GRIFFIN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, October 6, 2022 9:00 a.m. Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Workforce, Trades, and Talent was called to order by the Chair. At 9:01 a.m., the Chair went at ease. At 9:03 a.m., the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair requested attendance be called. The Clerk called the attendance, and a quorum was present. Present: Reps. Griffin, Martin, Howell, Farrington, Markkanen, Sabo, Hope, O'Neal. Absent: Rep. Eisen. Excused: None. Representatives Howell, Farrington, Markkanen, Sabo, Hope and O'Neal joined the committee remotely. The Chair laid HB 6400 before the committee: HB 6400 (Rep. Martin) A bill to amend 1979 PA 152, entitled "State license fee act," by amending section 4 (MCL 338.2204), as amended by 2021 PA 23. Representative Martin, the bill sponsor, explained HB 6400. Questions followed. The following individuals submitted a card in support of HB 6400, but did not wish to speak: Heather Feuerstein, Policy and Legislative Analyst for the Michigan Department of Military and Veteran Affairs (DMVA); and David Worthams, Director of Employment Policy for the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA). The Chair laid SB 1057 before the committee: SB 1057 (Sen. VanderWall) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 20950, 20954, and 20958 (MCL 333.20950, 333.20954, and 333.20958), section 20950 as amended by 2021 PA 25, section 20954 as amended by 2000 PA 375, and section 20958 as amended by 2010 PA 304. Senator Curt VanderWall, the bill sponsor, explained SB 1057. Questions followed. Jimmy E. Greene, President of Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan (ABC), submitted a card in support of SB 1057, but did not wish to speak.
