- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON MILITARY, VETERANS AND HOMELAND SECURITY REP. BEAU M LAFAVE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 05, 2019 12:00 PM Room 307, House Office Building, Lansing, MI The House Standing Committee on Military, Veterans and Homeland Security was called to order by Chairman LaFave. The Clerk read a letter from House Speaker Lee Chatfield which appointed members of the House Committee on Military, Veterans, and Homeland Security. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. LaFave, Mueller, Marino, Afendoulis, Markkanen, Jones, Chirkun, Carter, Manoogian. Absent/Excused: None. At 12:01 PM, the laid the committee at ease. At 12:02 PM, the called the committee back to order. Representative Mueller to adopt Tuesday, 12:00 p.m., and room 307 House Office Building, as the normal day, time, and location for meetings of the House Committee on Military, Veterans, and Homeland Security. The custom motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave, Mueller, Marino, Afendoulis, Markkanen, Jones, Chirkun, Manoogian. Nays: None. Pass: None. Chair LaFave stated that the committee would follow the committee rules, as prescribed in Chapter 4 of the House Rules. The Chair invited Sergeant Matthew Williams and Captain McGowan, representing the Michigan State Police, to give a presentation on the State Emergency Operations Center. Questions and discussion followed. Chair LaFave gave opening remarks to the committee. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair adjourned the meeting at 12:44 PM.
