KATHY CRAWFORD CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, February 06, 2019 09:00 AM Room 308, House Office Building, Lansing, MI The House Standing Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors was called to order by Chairman Crawford. The Clerk read the following letter from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lee Chatfield, to Gary L. Randall, Clerk of the Michigan House of Representatives: January 16, 2019 Mr. Gary L. Randall, Clerk Michigan House of Representatives State Capitol Building Lansing, MI 48913 Dear Mr. Clerk: I appoint the following Members of the 100th Legislature to the Standing Committees for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session: Families, Children, and Seniors Reps. Crawford (C), Rendon (Maj. VC), Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett (Min. VC), Liberati, Brenda Carter, Cynthia A. Johnson Sincerely, Lee Chatfield, Speaker Michigan House of Representatives The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, B. Carter, C. A. Johnson. Absent/Excused: None. The Chair stated the committee would be following Chapter IV, as stated in the House Standing Rules that were adopted by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Representative Rendon moved to adopt Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in room 308 of the Anderson House Office Building as the day, time, and location for the regular schedule for the meetings of the House Families, Children and Seniors Committee. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, B. Carter, C.A. Johnson. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair asked the committee members and support staff to introduce themselves to the full committee. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation given by the Children’s Services Agency. Stacie Bladen, the Deputy Director for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Services Agency, introduced her staff: Collin Parks, Manager of the Children Protection Services Program Office; Sarah Goad, Manager of the Foster Care Program Office; and Cathe Hoover, Manager of the Adoption, Guardianship, Recruitment and Retention. Deputy Director Bladen gave an overview on the agency’s child welfare program. Questions and discussion followed. Copy of the PowerPoint presentation is attached. There being no other business before the committee; Representative Garrett moved that the Committee adjourn. The motion prevailed without objection.
