HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND TOURISM REP. STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, February 14, 2019 Room 327, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chairman Marino. The Chair laid before the committee the Speaker's appointment letter. The Clerk read the following letter from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lee Chatfield, to Gary L. Randall, Clerk of the Michigan House of Representatives: January 16, 2019 Mr. Gary L. Randall, Clerk Michigan House of Representatives State Capitol Building Lansing, MI 48913 Dear Mr. Clerk: I appoint the following Members of the 100th Legislature to the Standing Committees for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session: Commerce and Tourism Reps. Marino (C), Wendzel (Maj. VC), Reilly, Meerman, Schroeder, Wakeman, Cambensy(Min. VC), Camilleri, Hope, Manoogian, Robinson Sincerely, Lee Chatfield, Speaker Michigan House of Representatives The Chair went at ease at the call of the Chair at 9:07 a.m. The Chair reconvened the meeting at 9:20 a.m. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Wendzel, Reilly, Meerman, Schroeder, Wakeman, Cambensy, Camilleri, Hope, Manoogian, Robinson. Absent/Excused: None. The Chair stated the committee would be following Chapter IV, as stated in the House Standing Rules that were adopted by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Representative Wendzel moved to adopt Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in room 327 of the Anderson House Office Building as the day, time, and location for the regular schedule for the meetings of the House Commerce and Tourism Committee. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Marino, Wendzel, Reilly, Meerman, Schroeder, Wakeman, Cambensy, Camilleri, Hope, Manoogian, Robinson. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair introduced the committee support staff to the full committee. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation given by the Business Leaders for Michigan. Tim Sowton, Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Business Leaders for Michigan, gave a PowerPoint presentation on what their plan for a stronger Michigan. Questions followed. A copy of the presentation is attached. There being no further business before the committee, the Representative moved that the committee adjourn. The motion prevailed, the time being 10:16a.m..
