HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON HEALTH POLICY REP. HANK VAUPEL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 7, 2019 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chairman Vaupel. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Vaupel, Frederick, Alexander, Calley, Hornberger, Lower, Whiteford, Afendoulis, Filler, Mueller, Wozniak, Liberati, Garrett, Clemente, Ellison, Koleszar, Pohutsky, Stone, Witwer. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Frederick moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 28, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4224 and HB 4225 before the committee: HB 4224 (Rep. Hoitenga) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 7104 (MCL 333.7104), as amended by 2001 PA 233. HB 4225 (Rep. Kahle) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 7303a (MCL 333.7303a), as amended by 2018 PA 101. Representative Hoitenga, Representative Kahle, and Amy Francoeur, representing the Hospice of Lenawee and the Michigan Homecare and Hospice Association, testified in support of the bills. Questions and discussion followed. Thadd Gormas and Ron Stavale, representing the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants, testified in support of the bills. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid the presentation by the Alzheimer’s Association before the committee. The Chair invited Jennifer Hunter and Jennifer Lepard, representing the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan, to give a presentation on Alzheimer’s disease. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair returned to HB 4224 and HB 4225.
