KATHY CRAWFORD CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, March 20, 2019 9:00 AM Room 308, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors was called to order by Chairman Crawford. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, B. Carter. Absent/Excused: Rep. C. Johnson. Representative Rendon moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 13, 2019 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4152 and HB 4153 before the committee: HB 4152 (Rep. Johnson) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled “Public health code,” by amending section 2891 (MCL 333.2891), as amended by 2013 PA 136. HB 4153 (Rep. Guerra) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled “Public health code, “by amending section 2803 (MCL 333.2803), as amended by 2012 PA 499. Representative Steven Johnson, the bill sponsor for House Bill 4152, explained the proposed (H- 2) substitute for the bill. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4152 and HB 4153, but did not wish to speak: Meghan Keit, representing the Governmental Affairs Associate for Michigan Association of Counties. Representative Hoitenga moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 4152. The motion prevailed 8-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, B. Carter. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Meerman moved to refer House Bill No. 4152 to the committee on Ways and Means, with recommendation as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, B Carter. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative B Carter moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 4153. The motion prevailed 8-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Representative Garrett moved to refer House Bill No. 4153 to the committee on Ways and Means, with recommendation as substitute (H-2). The motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, B Carter. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation given by the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Association of Michigan. Luke Reynolds, Executive Director of LifeCircles PACE, and Mary Naber, President and Chief Executive Officer at PACE of Southeast Michigan, briefed the committee about their program. Questions followed. A copy of their PowerPoint is attached. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation given by the Michigan Great Lakes Chapter Alzheimer's Association. Jennifer Hunt, Policy Director for the Alzheimer’s Association-Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, and Jennifer Lepard, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Alzheimer’s Association- Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, briefed the committee on their objectives. Questions followed. A copy of their PowerPoint is attached. Representative Garrett moved to excuse Representative C. Johnson from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Kathy Crawford adjourned the meeting at 10:17 AM.
