- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE REP. JULIE ALEXANDER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, April 10, 2019 10:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Agriculture was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Alexander, Meerman, LaFave, Eisen, Mueller, Wendzel, Coleman, Garza, Cynthia Johnson, Witwer. Absent/Excused: Rep. Elder. Representative Eisen moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 20, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Jolene Griffin, the Director of Industry Relations for the United Dairy Institute of Michigan, provided a presentation regarding family dairy farms in Michigan. Questions and discussion followed. Dick Byslma, the Director of Dairy Sales for the National Farmers Organization, provided a presentation regarding the National Farmers Organization, the challenges facing today’s dairy farmers, and possible solutions to help solve various issues facing dairy farmers. Questions and discussion followed. Representative LaFave moved to excuse Representative Elder from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
