STEVE MARINO CHAIR Minutes of the Joint Committee Meeting of the House Standing Committee on Commerce and Tourism and Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development Wednesday, April 10, 2019 3:38 PM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by Chairman Marino. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Marino, Wendzel, Reilly, Meerman, Schroeder, Wakeman, Cambensy, Camilleri, Hope, Manoogian, Robinson. Absent/Excused: None. House Chair turned the gavel over to the Senate Chair. The Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development was called to order by the Chair, Senator Ken Horn at 3:39 p.m. The roll was called by the Senate Clerk and announced that a quorum was present. Members present: Senators Horn, VanderWall, Theis, Lauwer, Schmidt, McMorrow, Geiss, and Moss. (8/9) Member absent: Senator MacGregor. (1/9) Senate Chair turned the gavel over to the House Chair. The House Chair laid before the committee a presentation on Insuring More for Michigan. Melisa Gibson a Senior Consultant for Public Sector Consultants gave a PowerPoint presentation on Insuring More for Michigan-The Insurance Industry’s contribution to Michigan’s Economy. Questions followed from the members of the joint committees. Copies of her PowerPoint, study report and handouts are attached. House Chair turned the gavel over to the Senate Chair. Senate Chair moved to excuse absent members from the committee meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent of the Senate members present, Senator MacGregor was excused. There being no other business before the committee; the Senate Chair moved that the committee adjourn. The motion prevailed, the time being 4:10 p.m. The Senate Chair declared the meeting adjourned. Senate Chair turned the gavel over to the House Chair. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Pauline Wendzel moved that Committee adjourn.
