- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY REP. MICHELE HOITENGA CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, April 10, 2019 12:00 PM Room 327, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Communications and Technology was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hoitenga, S Johnson, Wozniak, Coleman, Chirkun. Absent/Excused: None. Representative S Johnson moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 27, 2019 12:00 PM. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4268 before the committee: HB 4268 (Rep. Griffin) A bill to amend 1893 PA 206, entitled"The general property tax act,"(MCL 211.1 to 211.155) by adding section 9p. Representative Beth Griffin testified in support of HB 4268. Matt Groen, MI Cable Telecommunications Association, testified in support of HB 4268. Steve Shults, Bloomingdale Communications, testified in support of HB 4268. Bob Stewart, Frontier Communications, testified in support of HB 4268. Judy Allen, Michigan Townships Association, testified in opposition of HB 4268. Chris Hackbarth, Michigan Municipal League, testified in noposition of HB 4268. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4268, but did not wish to speak: Jennifer Greenburg, Telecom Association of Michigan John Liskey, Michigan Internet & Telecom Alliance Dan Papineau, Michigan Chamber of Commerce John Jones, Sprint The following people submitted a card in opposition of HB 4268, but did not wish to speak: Todd Tennis, AFT-MI Peter Spadafore, MASA Jennifer Smith, MI Association of School Boards Deena Bosworth, representing the MI Association of Counties, did not wish to speak, but submitted a card with concerns, and working with sponsor’s office There being no further business before the committee, Rep.
