The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hall, Reilly, Webber, S Johnson, LaFave, Schroeder, C A Johnson, Camilleri, LaGrand. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Reilly moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 11, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The chair laid before the committee: Office of the Auditor General Performance Audit Report Children’s Protective Services, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, September 2018 #431-1285-16 Representative LaFave moved to adopt the House Oversight Committee Report Recommendations on the Office of the Auditor General Child Protective Services report. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hall, Reilly, Webber, S Johnson, LaFave, Schroeder, C A Johnson, Camilleri, LaGrand. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative LaFave moved to refer the Office of the Auditor General Performance Audit Report Children’s Protective Services, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, September 2018 #431-1285-16, to the committee on Families Children and Seniors. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hall, Reilly, Webber, S Johnson, LaFave, Schroeder, C Johnson, Camilleri, LaGrand. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4435 and HB 4436 before the committee: HB 4435 (Rep. Reilly) A bill to protect the right of free speech and assembly on the campuses of public universities and community and junior colleges; to provide for enforcement of that right; and to provide remedies. HB 4436 (Rep. Reilly) A bill to promote and safeguard the right of free speech and assembly on the campuses of public universities and community and junior colleges; and to provide for the powers and duties of certain state and local governmental officers and entities. Representative Reilly testified in support of HB 4435 and HB 4436. Questions and discussion followed.
