- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE REP. JULIE ALEXANDER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, May 1, 2019 10:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Agriculture was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. J Alexander, Meerman, LaFave, Eisen, Mueller, Wendzel, Elder, Coleman, Garza, C. A. Johnson, Witwer. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Wendzel moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 17, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid the presentation from the Michigan Potato Industry Commission before the committee. Mike Wenkel, representing the Michigan Potato Industry Commission, joined by Phil Gusmano, representing Better Made Snack Foods, both provided a presentation regarding the Overview of Michigan Potato Industry and Opportunities and covered the following topics: Michigan Potato Production; How the Industry Works; Industry Vision; Research Efforts; Marketing Goals and Activities; the Potato Growers of Michigan, Inc.; the National Potato Council; State Challenges; Upcoming Events; and Better Made Potato Chips. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Julie Alexander adjourned the meeting at 11:12 AM.
