JAMES LOWER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, May 22, 2019 1:00 PM Room 521, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Local Government and Municipal Finance was called to order by the Chair Lower. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Lower, Marino, Crawford, Calley, Howell, Eisen, Meerman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Hope, Kuppa. Absent/Excused: None. The Chair laid HB 4408 before the committee: HB 4408 (Rep. Miller) A bill to amend 2000 PA 321, entitled “Recreational authorities act, “by amending section 27 (MCL 123.1157). Representative Marino moved to refer House Bill No. 4408 to the committee on Ways and Means. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Lower, Marino, Crawford, Calley, Howell, Eisen, Meerman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Hope, Kuppa. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4209 before the committee: HB 4209 (Rep. Slagh) A bill to amend 1893 PA 206, entitled “The general property tax act,” by amending section 44 (MCL 211.44), as amended by 2012 PA 482. Representative Crawford offered the following amendment to HB 4209: 1. Amend page 3, line 13, after "OFFICIAL" by inserting "AND IS APPROVED BY THE TOWNSHIP BOARD TO SERVE AS THE DESIGNEE". Representative Ellison moved to adopt the amendment to HB 4209. The motion prevailed 13-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Lower, Marino, Crawford, Calley, Howell, Eisen, Meerman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Hope, Kuppa. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Marino moved to refer House Bill No. 4209 as amended, as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Lower, Marino, Crawford, Calley, Howell, Eisen, Meerman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Hope, Kuppa. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Marino moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 15, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
