HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. JASON M SHEPPARD CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 4, 2019 9:00 AM Room 308, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Government Operations was called to order by the Chair Sheppard. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Sheppard, Cole, Lilly, Rabhi. Absent/Excused: Rep. Greig. Representative Lilly moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 1, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 0200, SB 0282 and SB 0283 before the committee: SB 0200 (Sen. Wojno) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled “Public health code,” by amending section 17744b (MCL 333.17744b), as amended by 2016 PA 384. SB 0282 (Sen. VanderWall) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled “Public health code,” by amending section 20919 (MCL 333.20919), as amended by 2018 PA 383. SB 0283 (Sen. Lucido) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled “The revised school code,” by amending sections 5 and 1178 (MCL 380.5 and 380.1178), as amended by 2016 PA 385; and to repeal acts and parts of acts. Senator Wojno and Kristin Shelley, representing the Michigan Library Association, testified in support of SB 0200, SB 0282 and SB 0283. Caroline Leithen, representing the the Michigan Department of Education, submitted a card in support of SB 200, but did not wish to speak. Patrick Tiedt, representing the Senator VanderWall, submitted a card in support of SB 282, and was available to answer questions. Scott Ray, representing the Senator Lucido, submitted a card in support of SB 283, and was available to answer questions. Representative Rabhi moved to report out SB 0200 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 4-0-0. FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Sheppard, Cole, Lilly, Rabhi. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Lilly moved to report out SB 0282 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 4-0-0. FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Sheppard, Cole, Lilly, Rabhi. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Cole moved to report out SB 0283 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 4-0-0. FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Sheppard, Cole, Lilly, Rabhi. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Rabhi moved to excuse Representative Greig from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Jason Sheppard adjourned the meeting at 9:06 AM.
