- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY REP. MICHELE HOITENGA CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, September 4, 2019 12:00 PM Room 327, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Communications and Technology was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hoitenga, Steven Johnson, Wozniak, Coleman, Chirkun. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Steven Johnson moved to adopt the minutes from the May 8th, 2019 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 0452 before the committee: SB 0452 (Sen. Stamas) A bill to amend 1986 PA 32, entitled "Emergency 9-1-1 service enabling act," by amending section 408 (MCL 484.1408), as amended by 2018 PA 51. Kristen Wall, representing the Office of Senator Stamas, testified in support of SB 0452. Patricia Coates, Lisa Hall, Jordyn Sellek, representing the Michigan Communications Directors Association, testified in support of SB 0452. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on SB 0452, but did not wish to speak: Gavin Goetz, representing the AT&T. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 0452, but did not wish to speak: Sgt Nicole McGhee, representing the Michigan State Police. Blaine Koops, representing the MI Sheriffs Association. Meghann Keit, representing the MI Association of Counties. David McCortney, representing the Peninsula Fiber Network. John Jones, representing the Sprint. Jordyn Sellek, representing the Conference of Western Wayne 911. Herasanna Richards, representing the Michigan Municipal League. Representative Steven Johnson moved to refer Senate Bill No. 452 to the committee on Ways and Means. The motion prevailed 5-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hoitenga, Steven Johnson, Wozniak, Coleman, Chirkun. Nays: None. Pass: None. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Michele Hoitenga adjourned the meeting at 12:06 PM.
