- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND TOURISM REP. STEVE MARINO CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, September 12, 2019 9:00 a.m. Room 327, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Commerce and Tourism was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Representatives Marino, Wendzel, Reilly, Meerman, Schroeder, Wakeman, Cambensy, Hope, Manoogian, Robinson. Absent: Representative Camilleri. At 9:01 a.m., the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:06 a.m., the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair laid HB 4717 before the committee: HB 4717 (Rep. Johnson) A bill to provide for the labeling of certain portable fuel containers as made in Michigan; and to make findings that, under certain circumstances, portable fuel containers have not entered or substantially affected interstate commerce. Representative Steven Johnson, the bill sponsor, explained HB 4717. Questions and discussion followed. A copy of his handout is attached. Representative Aaron Miller, representing himself, testified in support of HB 4717. Questions and discussion followed. Bruce MacCounell, a veteran, testified in support of HB 4717. Sarah Howes, representing the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. submitted a card in opposition of HB 4717, but not wish to speak The Chair laid HB 4792 before the committee: HB 4792 (Rep. LaFave) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled “Natural resources and environmental protection act,” by amending section 21106 (MCL 324.21106). Representative Beau LaFave, the bill sponsor, explained HB 4792. Questions and discussion followed. A copy of his handout is attached. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Schroeder moved that the Committee adjourn.
