Vaupel) A concurrent resolution to declare Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) a critical health issue, commit the Legislature to action, and encourage the Governor to direct agencies to assess and report progress on reducing ACEs. Representative Hank Vaupel, the resolution sponsor, explained his resolution HCR2 to the committee, and introduced Rick Murdock, former Director of the Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP), and now Coordinator of the Michigan ACE Initiative for the MAHP Foundation, who testified in support of HCR 0002. Discussion and Questions followed. A copy of his written testimony and handouts are attached. Lisa Farnum, Managing Director for the Michigan Association of Health Plans Foundation, submitted a card in support of HCR 2. The following individuals submitted a card in support of HCR 0002, but did not wish to speak: Christine Shearer, Deputy Director in the Office of Legislation and Advocacy at Michigan Association of Health Plans; Brandon Dillon, representing the Michigan Complete Health; Parker James, a Kids Count Research Associate at Michigan League for Public Policy; Derek Dalling, a lobbyist representing the Upper Peninsula Health Plan; Rory Lafferty, Director of Government Affairs for Health Alliance Plan (HAP); and John McNamara, Manager of State Government Relations for McLaren Health Care. Representative Rendon moved to excuse Representative Brenda Carter from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Meerman moved to adjourn the Committee meeting. The motion prevailed without objection.
