- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS REP. BRANDT IDEN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, September 18, 2019 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Ways and Means was called to order by Chair Iden. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Wentworth, Warren, Byrd, Hertel. Absent/Excused: Rep. Neeley. Representative Warren moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 17, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4389, HB 4390 and HB 4391 before the committee: HB 4389 (Rep. Allor) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act,"(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by amending the heading of subpart 1 of part 147 and by adding sections 14701, 14703, 14705, and 14707. HB 4390 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1966 PA 291, entitled "Firefighters training council act, "by amending sections 2 and 9 (MCL 29.362 and 29.369), as amended by 2017 PA 144, and by adding section 9c. HB 4391 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1974 PA 154, entitled "Michigan occupational safety and health act, "by amending section 14 (MCL 408.1014), as amended by 2012 PA 415, and by adding section 14r. Representative Allor and Representative Yaroch testified in support of HB 4389, HB 4390 and HB 4391. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4389, but did not wish to speak: Jason Geer, representing the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. Travis Boeskool, representing the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. The following people submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 4390 and HB 4391, but did not wish to speak: Stephanie Johnson, representing the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs. Mike Burke, representing the Michigan State Fireman's Association. Mark Docherty, representing the Michigan Professional Firefighters Union. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4389, HB 4390 and HB 4391, but did not wish to speak: Eric Friedman, representing the DOW. Charlotte Jameson, representing the Michigan Environmental Council. Alia Phillips, representing the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. Representative Warren moved to excuse Representative Neeley from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
