HANK VAUPEL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, October 3, 2019 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Vaupel. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Vaupel, Frederick, Alexander, Calley, Hornberger, Lower, Whiteford, Afendoulis, Filler, Mueller, Wozniak, Liberati, Garrett, Clemente, Ellison, Koleszar, Pohutsky, Stone, Witwer. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Frederick moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 19, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4862 before the committee: HB 4862 (Rep. Wozniak) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled “Public health code,” by amending section 20981 (MCL 333.20981), as added by 2016 PA 40. Representative Wozniak testified in support of HB 4862. Amy Morrison-Maybee, representing Bronson Healthcare Group, testified in support of HB 4862. Kim Bar, representing Bronson Healthcare Group, testified in support of HB 4862. Tyler Gibb, representing Western Michigan University School of Medicine, testified in support of HB 4862. The Chair laid HB 4516 before the committee: HB 4516 (Rep. LaFave) A bill to amend 1976 PA 220, entitled “Persons with disabilities civil rights act,"(MCL 37.1101 to 37.1607) by adding section 102a. Representative Liberati offered the following amendment to HB 4516: 1. Amend page 2, line 3, after "(c)" by striking out the balance of the line through "access." on line 4 and inserting "Provide substantially equivalent or greater accessibility and usability as the international symbol of access.". Representative Liberati spoke to the amendment Representative Liberati moved to adopt the amendment to HB 4516. The motion prevailed 19-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. VanWoerkom) A bill to amend 1956 PA 62, entitled “An act to authorize the director of the department of state police to promulgate a uniform traffic code; to authorize a city, township, or village to adopt the uniform traffic code by reference without publication in full; and to prescribe criminal penalties and civil sanctions for violation of the code,” by amending section 1 (MCL 257.951), as amended by 2006 PA 297.
