SHANE HERNANDEZ CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, October 16, 2019 9:00 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Standing Committee on Appropriations was called to order by Chair Hernandez. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hernandez, Miller, Sheppard, Albert, Allor, Brann, VanSingel, Whiteford, Yaroch, Bollin, Glenn, Green, Huizenga, Lightner, Maddock, Slagh, VanWoerkom, Hoadley, Love, Pagan, Hammoud, Peterson, Sabo, Anthony, Brixie, Cherry, Hood, Kennedy, Tate. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Lightner moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 11, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4125 before the committee: HB 4125 (Rep. VanSingel) A bill to amend 1967 PA 281, entitled "Income tax act of 1967,"by amending sections 51 and 51d (MCL 206.51 and 206.51d), as amended by 2018 PA 588; and to repeal acts and parts of acts. Representative Miller moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 4125. The motion prevailed 28-1-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hernandez, Miller, Sheppard, Albert, Allor, Brann, VanSingel, Whiteford, Yaroch, Bollin, Glenn, Green, Huizenga, Lightner, Slagh, VanWoerkom, Hoadley, Love, Pagan, Hammoud, Peterson, Sabo, Anthony, Brixie, Cherry, Hood, Kennedy, Tate. Nays: Rep. Maddock. Pass: None. Representative VanSingel introduced the bill and substitute (H-2). The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4125, but did not wish to speak: Dirk Wheeldreyer, representing the School Equity Caucus. Peter Spadafore, representing the Michigan Association of Superintendents. Bob Kefgen, representing the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals. Jeff Cobb, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. Matt Kurta, representing the ESA Legislative Group. Representative VanSingel moved to report out HB 4125 with recommendation, as substitute (H- 2). The motion prevailed 28-1-0. FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps.
