- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON INSURANCE REP. MIKE HARRIS CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, September 10, 2025 Noon. Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Insurance was called to order by Chair Harris. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Harris, Tisdel, Lightner, Posthumus, Aragona, Neyer, Schuette, Brenda Carter, Tate and Fitzgerald. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Brenda Carter moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 03, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4726 before the committee: HB 4726 (Rep. Bierlein) A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled "The social welfare act," by amending section 109 (MCL 400.109), as amended by 2024 PA 248. Don Haney, representing the Michigan Association of Counties, Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council, testified in support of HB 4726. Questions and discussions followed. Renee Beniak, representing the Michigan Association of Counties, Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council, testified in support of HB 4726. Questions and discussions followed. Representative Bierlein testified in support of HB 4726. Questions and discussions followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4726, but did not wish to speak: Richie Farron, representing the Health Care Association of Michigan. Dalton Herbel, representing the Leading Age Michigan. Representative Neyer moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Harris adjourned the meeting at 12:10 PM.
