GARY HOWELL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, October 22, 2019 12:00 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation was called to order by Chair Howell. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Howell, Wakeman, Calley, Reilly, Rendon, Eisen, Sowerby, Cambensy, Pohutsky. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Wakeman moved to adopt the minutes from the October 15th, 2019 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4589 before the committee: HB 4589 (Rep. Howell) A bill to designate the eastern wild turkey as the official game bird of the state of Michigan. Representative Reilly moved to refer House Bill No. 4589 to the committee on Ways and Means. The motion prevailed 8-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Howell, Wakeman, Calley, Reilly, Rendon, Eisen, Sowerby, Pohutsky. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4332 before the committee: HB 4332 (Rep. LaFave) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled" Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending sections 40102, 40103, and 40114 (MCL 324.40102, 324.40103, and 324.40114), section 40102 as amended by 2015 PA 24, section 40103 as amended by 2016 PA 382, and section 40114 as amended by 2018 PA 390, and by adding section 40111d. Representative LaFave testified in support of HB 4332. Chris Turek, representing Up North Air Gunner, testified in support of HB 4332 via YouTube video. Craig Brunet, representing Michigan Department of Natural Resources, testified in opposition to HB 4332. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4332, but did not wish to speak: Velocity Outdoors. The Chair laid HB 4439 before the committee: HB 4439 (Rep. Cole) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled" Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending section 40111a (MCL 324.40111a), as amended by 2015 PA 265.
