The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Alexander, Meerman, LaFave, Eisen, Mueller, Wendzel, Elder, Coleman, Garza, Cynthia Johnson, Witwer. Absent/Excused: None. Representative LaFave moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 18, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 174, SB 179, SB 180, SB 181, SB 182, SB 183 and SB 361 before the committee: SB 174 (Sen. McBroom) A bill to amend 2012 PA 487, entitled "Wildlife depredations indemnification act," by amending section 2 (MCL 285.362). SB 183 (Sen. McBroom) A bill to amend 2000 PA 246, entitled "Wolf-dog cross act," by amending section 2 (MCL 287.1002), as amended by 2016 PA 299. SB 361 (Sen. Ananich) A bill to amend 2011 PA 256, entitled "Michigan fireworks safety act," by amending section 12 (MCL 28.462), as amended by 2018 PA 634. Senator Daley testified in support of SB 174, SB 179, SB 180, SB 181, SB 182, SB 183 and SB 361. Allison Brink and Bill Patmos, representing Michigan Allied Poultry Industries Incorporated, testified in support of SB 174. Questions and discussion followed. Nathan Kark and Dr. James Averill, representing the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, testified with a neutral position on SB 174, SB 179, SB 180, SB 181, SB 182, SB 183 and SB 361. Amend page 54, line 2, after "accreditation" by striking out "program or" and inserting "program,". 2. Amend page 54, line 4, after "requirements" by inserting a comma and "or a privately owned cervid operation that is located in an accredited bovine tuberculosis free zone as assigned by the United States Department of Agriculture". Representative LaFave spoke to the proposed amendments. Representative LaFave moved to adopt the amendments to SB 174. The motion did not prevail 1- 10-0: UNFAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Rep. LaFave. Amend page 82, line 2, after “than” by striking out “3.00” and inserting “1,000,000”. Representative LaFave spoke to his proposed amendment. Amend page 81, line 24, by striking out all of subsections (4) and (5) and renumbering the remaining subsections. 4. Amend page 82, line 18, by striking out all of subsection (7) and renumbering the remaining subsections. 5. Amend page 83, line 2, after "hens" by striking out "or shell eggs". Representative LaFave spoke to the proposed amendments. Representative LaFave moved to adopt the amendments to SB 174. The motion did not prevail 1- 10-0: UNFAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Rep. LaFave.
