SHANE HERNANDEZ CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, October 30, 2019 9:00 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Standing Committee on Appropriations was called to order by the Chair Hernandez. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hernandez, Miller, Sheppard, Albert, Allor, Brann, VanSingel, Whiteford, Yaroch, Bollin, Glenn, Green, Huizenga, Lightner, Maddock, Slagh, VanWoerkom, Hoadley, Love, Pagan, Hammoud, Sabo, Anthony, Brixie, Cherry, Hood, Kennedy, Tate. Absent/Excused: Rep. Peterson. Representative Huizenga moved to adopt the meeting minutes from October 16, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4830 before the committee: HB 4830 (Rep. Schroeder) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 20161 (MCL 333.20161), as amended by 2018 PA 245. Representative Miller moved to adopt substitute (H-3) to HB 4830. The motion prevailed 26-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hernandez, Miller, Sheppard, Albert, Allor, Brann, VanSingel, Whiteford, Yaroch, Bollin, Glenn, Green, Huizenga, Lightner, Maddock, Slagh, VanWoerkom, Hoadley, Pagan, Hammoud, Sabo, Anthony, Brixie, Cherry, Kennedy, Tate. Mark Docherty, representing the Michigan Professional Firefighters Union. Emily Schwarzkopf, representing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Representative Sheppard moved to report out HB 4830 with recommendation, as substitute (H- 3). The motion prevailed 28-0-0. FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Bayer) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending sections 5501 and 5522 (MCL 324.5501 and 324.5522), section 5501 as amended by 1998 PA 245 and section 5522 as amended by 2015 PA 60. Austin Scott, representing the House Fiscal Agency, introduced the bill. Questions and discussion followed.
