- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON INSURANCE REP. DAIRE L RENDON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, November 7, 2019 9:00 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Insurance was called to order by Chair Rendon. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Rendon, Markkanen, Webber, Vaupel, Bellino, Frederick, Hoitenga, LaFave, Berman, Paquette, Wittenberg, Lasinski, Sneller, Bolden, Coleman. Absent/Excused: Reps. Gay-Dagnogo, Brenda Carter. Representative LaFave moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 20, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5174 before the committee: HB 5174 (Rep. Rendon) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 1915 (MCL 500.1915), as amended by 2006 PA 644. Vice-Chair Markkanen assumed the gavel, the time being 9:04 A.M. Representative Rendon testified in support of HB 5174. Questions and discussion followed. Chair Rendon assumed the gavel, the time being 9:08 A.M. John Meetz, representing the Wholesale and Specialty Insurance Association, joined by Kori Johanson, representing Burns and Wilcox of H.W. Kaufman Group, both testified in support of HB 5174. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Wittenberg moved to excuse Representatives Gay-Dagnogo and Brenda Carter from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Daire Rendon adjourned the meeting at 9:28 AM.
