- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY REP. MICHELE HOITENGA CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, December 4, 2019 12:06 PM Room 327, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Communications and Technology was called to order by Chair Hoitenga. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hoitenga, Steven Johnson, Wozniak, Coleman, Chirkun. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Wozniak moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 18, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4266 and HB 5266 before the committee: HB 4266 (Rep. Cole) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled" Revised judicature act of 1961,"(MCL 600.101 to 600.9947) by adding section 2979. HB 5266 (Rep. Cole) A bill to amend 2008 PA 167, entitled" Electric cooperative member-regulation act,"(MCL 460.31 to 460.39) by adding sections 8a and 8b. Representative Cole testified in support of HB 4266. Joseph Baumann, representing MI Electric Cooperative Association, testified in support of HB 4266. At 12:10 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 12:11 PM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Representative Steven Johnson moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 4266. The motion prevailed 5-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hoitenga, Steven Johnson, Wozniak, Coleman, Chirkun. Nays: None. Pass: None. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4266 and HB 5266, but did not wish to speak: Bob Stewart, representing the Frontier Communications. Jennifer Greenburg, representing the Telecom Association of MI. Gavin Goetz, representing the AT&T. Representative Cole testified in support of HB 5266. Joseph Baumann representing MI Electric Cooperative Association, testified in support of HB 5266. The Chair laid HB 5263 before the committee: HB 5263 (Rep. Miller) A bill to amend 1991 PA 179, entitled" Michigan telecommunications act," by amending section 316 (MCL 484.2316), as amended by 2011 PA 58. Representative Miller testified in support of HB 5263. Gavin Goetz & Yvette Collins representing AT&T, testified in support of HB 5263. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5263, but did not wish to speak: Bob Stewart, representing the Frontier Communications.
