PAMELA HORNBERGER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, December 10, 2019 9:00 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Education was called to order by Chair Hornberger. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Crawford, Vaupel, Reilly, Hall, Markkanen, O'Malley, Wakeman, Camilleri, Sowerby, Brenda Carter, Tyrone Carter, Koleszar, Stone. Absent/Excused: None. Representative O'Malley moved to adopt the meeting minutes from October 29, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4826 before the committee: HB 4826 (Rep. Brann) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1278 (MCL 380.1278), as amended by 2016 PA 170, and by adding section 1166b. Substitute (H-1) of HB 4856 was adopted on October 29, 2019. Representative Vaupel moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4826. The motion prevailed 15-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Crawford, Vaupel, Reilly, Hall, Markkanen, O'Malley, Wakeman, Camilleri, Sowerby, Brenda Carter, Tyrone Carter, Koleszar, Stone. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Wakeman moved to refer House Bill No. 4826 to the committee on Ways and Means, with recommendation as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 8-7-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Crawford, Vaupel, Hall, Markkanen, O'Malley, Wakeman. Nays: Reps. Reilly, Camilleri, Sowerby, Brenda Carter, Tyrone Carter, Koleszar, Stone. Pass: None. Representative Markkanen moved to refer House Bill No. 4856 to the committee on Ways and Means, with recommendation as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 14-1-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps.
