- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON FAMILIES, CHILDREN, AND SENIORS REP. KATHY CRAWFORD CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, December 11, 2019 9:00 a.m. Room 308, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors was called to order by the Chair. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Crawford, Rendon, Hoitenga, Meerman, Wozniak, Garrett, Liberati, Brenda Carter, Cynthia Johnson. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Rendon moved to adopt the meeting minutes from November 6, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation given by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) on Age-Friendly Communities. Melissa Seifert, Associate State Director of Governmental Affairs, and Karen Kafantaris, Associate State Director for Livable Communities, for the American Association of Retired Persons of Michigan, briefed the committee on Michigan becoming an Age-Friendly State. Questions followed. Copies of their handouts are attached. There being no further business before the committee, Representative Garrett moved to adjourn the Committee. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
