BRANDT IDEN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, January 15, 2020 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Ways and Means was called to order by Chair Iden. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Meerman, Warren, Byrd, Hertel, Bolden. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Lilly moved to adopt the meeting minutes from January 14, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4266 and HB 5266 before the committee: HB 4266 (Rep. Cole) A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled "Revised judicature act of 1961," (MCL 600.101 to 600.9947) by adding section 2979. HB 5266 (Rep. Cole) A bill to amend 2008 PA 167, entitled "Electric cooperative member-regulation act," (MCL 460.31 to 460.39) by adding sections 8a and 8b. Joe Baumann, representing Wolverine Electric Co-Ops, testified in support of HB 4266 and HB 5266. Representative Cole testified in support of HB 4266 and HB 5266. Representative Lilly moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 4266. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Iden) A bill relating to the promotion of regional convention business and tourism in this state and certain regions of this state; to provide for tourism and convention financing and promotion programs in certain areas; to provide for imposition and collection of assessments on the owners of transient facilities to support tourism and convention financing and promotion programs; to provide for the disbursement of the assessments; to establish the oversight functions and duties of certain state departments, state agencies, and state employees; and to prescribe penalties and remedies.
