- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS REP. BRANDT IDEN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 16, 2020 10:30 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Standing Committee on Ways and Means was called to order by Chair Iden. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Meerman, Warren, Byrd, Hertel, Bolden. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Lilly moved to adopt the meeting minutes from January 15, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4926, HB 4927, HB 4928, HB 4929 and HB 4930 before the committee: HB 4926 (Rep. Afendoulis) A bill to amend 2014 PA 86, entitled "Local community stabilization authority act," by amending sections 13 and 14 (MCL 123.1353 and 123.1354), as amended by 2018 PA 247. HB 4927 (Rep. Vaupel) A bill to amend 2014 PA 86, entitled "Local community stabilization authority act," by amending section 17 (MCL 123.1357), as amended by 2018 PA 616. HB 4928 (Rep. Webber) A bill to amend 2014 PA 86, entitled "Local community stabilization authority act," by amending section 17 (MCL 123.1357), as amended by 2018 PA 616. HB 4929 (Rep. Yancey) A bill to amend 2014 PA 86, entitled "Local community stabilization authority act," by amending section 16a (MCL 123.1356a), as amended by 2018 PA 247. HB 4930 (Rep. Whitsett) A bill to amend 2014 PA 86, entitled "Local community stabilization authority act," by amending section 18 (MCL 123.1358), as amended by 2018 PA 616. Representative Afendoulis testified in support of HB 4926, HB 4927, HB 4928, HB 4929 and HB 4930. Representative Vaupel testified in support of HB 4926, HB 4927, HB 4928, HB 4929 and HB 4930. Chris Glass, representing the West Michigan Talent Triangle, testified in support of HB 4926, HB 4927, HB 4928, HB 4929 and HB 4930. Rachel Richards and Carrie Kolka, representing the Michigan Department of Treasury, testified in support of HB 4926, HB 4927, HB 4928, HB 4929 and HB 4930. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4926, HB 4927, HB 4928, HB 4929 and HB 4930, but did not wish to speak: Bill Miller, representing the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators. Peter Spadafore, representing the Michigan Association of Superintendents and Administrators. Judy Allen, representing the Michigan Townships Association. Jennifer Smith, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Brandt Iden adjourned the meeting at 10:54 AM.
