- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON HEALTH POLICY REP. CURTIS VANDERWALL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair VanderWall. The Clerk read a letter dated January 30th, 2025, from House Speaker Matt Hall which appointed members of the Committee on Health Policy. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. VanderWall, Thompson, Tisdel, Bierlein, DeBoer, Prestin, Schmaltz, St. Germaine, Bohnak, Frisbie, Whitsett, Brenda Carter, Witwer, Neeley, Hoskins and Foreman. Absent: Rep. Meerman. Excused: Rep. Meerman. Chair VanderWall stated that the House Committee on Health Policy will follow the Uniform Committee Rules, stated in the House Standing Rules, that were adopted on the House Floor. Chair VanderWall offered the following proposed committee rule: At the discretion of the committee chair, a member of the public may address the committee regarding business before the committee. The committee may accept written testimony in lieu of oral testimony. Representative Thompson moved to adopt the proposed committee rule. The motion prevailed 16-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. VanderWall, Thompson, Tisdel, Bierlein, DeBoer, Prestin, Schmaltz, St. Germaine, Bohnak, Frisbie, Whitsett, Brenda Carter, Witwer, Neeley, Hoskins and Foreman. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Tisdel moved to adopt Wednesdays at 9:00 AM, in room 519 of the House Office Building as the normal time and location for meetings of the House Committee on Health Policy. The motion prevailed 16-0-0: Wednesday, February 19, 2025 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. VanderWall, Thompson, Tisdel, Bierlein, DeBoer, Prestin, Schmaltz, St. Germaine, Bohnak, Frisbie, Whitsett, Brenda Carter, Witwer, Neeley, Hoskins and Foreman. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair invited the committee members to introduce themselves. The Chair laid HB 4032 before the committee: Representative Linting, joined by Adam Carlson representing the Michigan Health and Hospital Association, testified in support of HB 4032. Questions and discussion followed. Dr. Mohammad Salameh, representing Trinity Health Medical Group, testified in support of HB 4032. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4032, but did not wish to speak: Jason Lachowski, representing the American Association of Retired Persons. Justin Clement, representing the Michigan Association of Health Plans. Jarrett Skorup, representing the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Kris Kraft, representing Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sam Champagne, representing Henry Ford Health. Gabe Schneider, representing Munson Healthcare. Representative Schmaltz moved to excuse Rep. Meerman from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair VanderWall adjourned the meeting at 9:19 AM.
