BRANDT IDEN CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, January 22, 2020 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Ways and Means was called to order by Chair Iden. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Meerman, Warren, Byrd, Hertel, Bolden. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Lilly moved to adopt the meeting minutes from January 21, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5187 and HB 5188 before the committee: HB 5187 (Rep. Warren) A bill to amend 1933 PA 167, entitled "General sales tax act," by amending section 25 (MCL 205.75), as amended by 2015 PA 262. HB 5188 (Rep. Huizenga) A bill to amend 1937 PA 94, entitled "Use tax act," by amending section 21 (MCL 205.111), as amended by 2015 PA 263. Representative Lilly moved to adopt substitute (H-2) to HB 5187. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Meerman, Warren, Byrd, Hertel, Bolden. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Warren offered the following amendment to HB 5187 (H-2): 1. Amend page 4, line 10, after "department." by inserting "The report required under this subsection shall not include any remittance for tax, and does not constitute a return or otherwise alleviate any obligations under section 6.". Representative Warren moved to adopt the amendment to HB 5187 (H-2). The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Johnson) A resolution to encourage the National Park Service to establish a moose tag lottery hunt to assist in controlling the moose population on Isle Royale. Representative Lilly moved to report out HR 154 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 8- 3-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Meerman, Byrd. Nays: Reps. Warren, Hertel, Bolden. Pass: None. The Chair laid HR 157 before the committee: HR 157 (Rep. Tate) A resolution to memorialize the President and Congress of the United States to increase funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to $475 million per year. Representative Leutheuser moved to report out HR 157 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Iden, Lilly, Leutheuser, Griffin, Hauck, Kahle, Meerman, Warren, Byrd, Hertel, Bolden. Nays: None. Pass: None. There being no further business before the committee, Rep.
