- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. JASON M SHEPPARD CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, February 27, 2020 9:00 AM Room 426, State Capitol Building, Lansing MI The House Standing Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair Sheppard. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Sheppard, Cole, Lilly, Greig, Rabhi. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Cole moved to adopt the meeting minutes from January 28, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5550 before the committee: HB 5550 (Rep. Farrington) A bill to amend 2012 PA 387, entitled "Regional transit authority act," by amending sections 6 and 10 (MCL 124.546 and 124.550), section 6 as amended by 2014 PA 246, and by adding section 7a. Representative Farrington testified in support of HB 5550. Questions and discussion followed. Brad Williams, representing the Detroit Regional Chamber, Jared Fleischer, representing Quickin Loans, and Renza Hoeksema, representing DTE Energy, all testified in support of HB 5550. Steve Liedel, representing the Regional Transit Authority as their attorney, and Representative Farrington came forward to answer questions from the committee members.
