PAMELA HORNBERGER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 3, 2020 9:00 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Education was called to order by Chair Hornberger. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Crawford, Vaupel, Reilly, Hall, Markkanen, O'Malley, Wakeman, Camilleri, Sowerby, Brenda Carter, Tyrone Carter, Koleszar, Stone. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Vaupel moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 25, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. At 9:04 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 9:05 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair laid HB 5470 before the committee: HB 5470 (Rep. Miller) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1220 (MCL 380.1220), as added by 2015 PA 111. Representative O'Malley moved to refer House Bill No. 5470 to the Committee on Ways and Means. The motion prevailed 15-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Crawford, Vaupel, Reilly, Hall, Markkanen, O'Malley, Wakeman, Camilleri, Sowerby, Brenda Carter, Tyrone Carter, Koleszar, Stone. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Camilleri spoke regarding the proposed substitute (H-1) to SB 171. Representative Camilleri moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to SB 171. Substitute (H-1) to HB 4483 was adopted previously at the meeting on February 25, 2020. Representative O'Malley moved to refer House Bill No. 4483 to the Committee on Ways and Means, with recommendation as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 15-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps.
