- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON MILITARY, VETERANS AND HOMELAND SECURITY REP. BEAU M LAFAVE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 3, 2020 12:00 PM Room 307, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Military, Veterans and Homeland Security was called to order by Chair LaFave. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. LaFave, Mueller, Afendoulis, Markkanen, Chirkun, Manoogian. Absent/Excused: Reps. Marino, Jones, Tyrone Carter. The Chair laid SB 125 before the committee: SB 125 (Sen. Barrett) A bill to amend 1995 PA 29, entitled "Uniform unclaimed property act," by amending section 18 (MCL 567.238), as amended by 2010 PA 197. The following people submitted a card with a support of SB 125, but did not wish to speak: Mark Sutton, representing the American Legion. Jordan Kingdom and Kieran Marion, representing the Michigan Credit Union League. Representative Markkanen moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to SB 125. The motion prevailed 5- 0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave, Mueller, Afendoulis, Markkanen, Manoogian. Nays: None. Pass: None. At 12:01 PM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 12:02 PM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Representative Chirkun moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 25, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Representative Afendoulis moved to refer Senate Bill No. 125 to the Committee on Ways and Means, with recommendation as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 6-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. LaFave, Mueller, Afendoulis, Markkanen, Chirkun, Manoogian. Nays: None. Pass: None. Representative Afendoulis moved to excuse Representatives Marino, Jones and Tyrone Carter from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Beau LaFave adjourned the meeting at 12:03 PM.
