HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT REP. MATT HALL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 5, 2020 10:30 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Oversight was called to order by Chair Hall. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hall, Reilly, Webber, Steven Johnson, LaFave, Cynthia Johnson, Camilleri, LaGrand. Absent/Excused: Rep. Schroeder. The Chair made remarks to the committee. Representative Reilly moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 686 before the committee: SB 686 (Sen. Barrett) A bill to prohibit a state department or agency or a member or office of the senate or house of representatives from taking disciplinary action against certain state employees for communicating with certain individuals in the legislative branch. Senator Barrett testified in support of SB 686. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid before the committee the following: Office of the Auditor General Report on the Food and Dairy Division, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, January 2020 #791-0200-12F Tim Slawinski and Jim Padden, representing the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, testified regarding the audit report. Questions and discussion followed. Representative LaFave moved to excuse Representative Schroeder from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
