- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON HEALTH POLICY REP. HANK VAUPEL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 12, 2020 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Vaupel. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Vaupel, Frederick, Alexander, Calley, Hornberger, Lower, Whiteford, Afendoulis, Filler, Mueller, Wozniak, Liberati, Garrett, Clemente, Ellison, Koleszar, Pohutsky, Stone, Witwer. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Frederick moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 5, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Chairman Vaupel laid before the committee a presentation by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive/Chief Deputy for Health, representing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, gave a presentation on Michigan's Coronavirus (COVID-19) response. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HCR 14 before the committee: HCR 14 (Rep. Calley) A concurrent resolution to recognize that pornography is a public health crisis that leads to a broad spectrum of societal harms. Representative Calley testified in support of HCR 14. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HCR 14, but did not wish to speak: Dan Jarvis, representing the Michigan Family Forum. Rebecca Mastee, representing the Michigan Catholic Conference. At 11:19 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 11:20 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order.
