- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON HEALTH POLICY REP. HANK VAUPEL CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, June 24, 2020 12:00 PM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Health Policy was called to order by Chair Vaupel. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Vaupel, Frederick, Alexander, Calley, Hornberger, Lower, Whiteford, Afendoulis, Filler, Mueller, Wozniak, Liberati, Garrett, Clemente, Ellison, Koleszar, Pohutsky, Stone, Witwer. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Frederick moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 16, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Chairman Vaupel laid before the committee presentations on the high cost of health care; starting with prescription drugs. Melissa Seifert, representing AARP, gave a presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Tim Antonelli and Kristen Kangas-Kraft, both representing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, gave a presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Heather Cascone from the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, representing the Pharmacy Benefit Managers, gave a presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Brian Sapita and Mike Delpiere, both representing the Michigan Pharmacists Association, gave a presentation to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Sharon Lamberton, representing PhRMA, gave a presentation to the committee. Karen Jonas, representing the Michigan Association of Health Plans, gave a presentation to the committee.
